Choosing a brand for your photographer

Color

Neutral palettes (warm greys, ink, stone) let photos carry the color. Introduce a single muted accent for buttons and links so your site still has a recognisable signature.

Typography

An elegant serif or condensed editorial face gives a gallery feel; keep sizes generous and layouts airy.

Common mistake

Strong brand colors behind photos alter how people perceive skin tones and editing. Keep image backgrounds neutral.

Your photographer brand checklist

  • One primary color, used everywhere. Website, signage, social and packaging should all lead with it.
  • Text that passes WCAG AA (4.5:1). Use the text-safe shade of your brand color for links and small text.
  • A logo that works in one color. You’ll need it for stamps, embroidery, vinyl and fax-quality prints.
  • Two fonts, no more. One with personality for headings, one built for reading.
  • A written brand guide. Exact color codes and fonts, shared with anyone who designs for you.
